I actually think this is pretty good (and I thought that *before* clicking on your username btw!) - You're brave to enter the over-processed look into a DPC challenge... but you'll find a lot of people here who appreciate something new.
Looking forward to the next one. |

well done... the geometry of the tiles contrasting with the organic brightness of snow. mystical processing, too... |

Hey, Sprog. I'd say, "Don't worry about the voters at this point!" They are not even slightly relevant to what you ought to be doing right now, which is (to my mind at least) exploring your own way of seeing, and passing the explorations on to us. I actually LIKE this shot, the ethereal emptiness and loneliness of it.

You will find that the typical DPC voter is not fond of the technique of reducing the number of colors/shades to two or three (called Posterization), though it is a common processing technique (there's even a separate command for it in Photoshop) used, especially in advertising, to give a photo the look of an illustration.
I think the effect works well for your subject, isolating the three compositional elements (bare floor, snowdrift, and boots) beautifully.
I applaud you for submitting what you liked regardless of the possible consequences in terms of votes. I think you will have more fun if you continue to do so. |

Well, first entry first ribbon! Even it was a brown be proud of yourself! I didn't vote in this challenge, but I personally like this kind of processing. Just so you know though, most people don't so you won't get a high score when you process this way. Keep in mind it's the creation of art no matter what you do and as long as you like it, you've succeeded! Congratulations! |

hiya sprog :D nice start - things can only get better, pointswise anyway...
Nice picture though - all that electric-y pow-zap standout negative glow. It didn't do too well with the voters, but considering that if you'd just left the picture alone except for converting to b/w then it probably would have scored higher, then don't worry too much about the voters.
I don't do so much constructive critiique, I do brown ribbons - here -
you got the loneliness down - you wuz robbed - keep truckin |

I also like your composition. It looks like this is a negative in B&W - some people don't like that sort of thing but I like that you tried something different! I also like how it looks like the boots are ready to go out again - they're pointed forward and out of the frame, ready to get back out into the snow. I think they probably don't like staying inside for very long! Very nice to see you taking pictures - I look forward to seeing a lot more! |

I like what you did here, and the way you experimented with the different things in Photoshop. I know you really thought about your composition. I can't vote on your image, because I know it's yours, but I really like it. |
