 I don't know why this place is named "Oilwell Flats". There are no oilwells and it certainly isn't flat. This is about 3 miles from my house as the crow flies and 8 miles by road... We take the dogs up here frequently for their "w-a-l-k-s" There have been a number of significant dinosaur fossil discoveries in this area, including a fairly intact stegosaurus and some nests with eggs. The beasts roaming now are mostly rancher's cattle, an occasional bear or mountain lion, and hosts of coyotes, foxes, and rabbits...
