Thanks. Nothing out of the ordinary - it was a lightroom conversion so there was some vibrancy added i suppose. Most of the colour was present in the first place (food dye fed to a split stem over a couple of days).


Aha, food dye and a split stem. I remember doing this in school once but have long forgotten that it could be done. I will have to try that. Thanks for the explanation!!!

In terms of meeting the challenge, the colours stand out more because of the expanse of black (and the subject is pushed off centre) meaning you arent blasted with the subject and colours... It is a subtle use of negative space but evidently because it didnt fill more than 1/2 the frame i think i got marked down...

I like the image but I am not sure it fits the challenge in that the subject seems not to need the negative space as much.

Very cool use of colors. I don't feel like this meets with the spirit of the challenge, which is to use the negative space to really make your photo stand out. But I still really like this photo.
