I read some as to what this challenge really meant and had a hard time deciding what to do. Someone mentioned Coke, and so I decided I definitely wanted to avoid any specific branding. Different bottles with and without water were discussed. Finally, I decided my definition was: Water Bottle - a bottle designed and sold for the purpose of holding bottled water in a serving size suitable for one person. Water bottles typically have water in them, but when that water is consumed, the water is gone, but the bottle is still a water bottle.
Armed with this definition, I tried to think of an interesting way of presenting the water bottle -- and cooking shows on tv inspired me to use a technique I have seen chefs use. I am not claiming to have really deconstructed a water bottle they way chefs have deconstructed, say, tomato soup. Still, my approach is an homage to the idea.
So, after liberal application of hacksaw and elbow grease, I present: Water Bottle Deconstructed. |

My first thought was the bottle was run over by a tractor. The focus is great. |

I keep coming back to this image and like the idea a lot. Only that too much blur occupies the foreground. Did you try trimming a third of it from the left and a bit from the bottom? To me it might be very effective. 7 |

The shallow dof starting in front makes the major part of the bottle just look like a mess. Sorry, maybe reversing it would change the perspective. Still rated it fairly and it's not a lowball. Good luck! |

I like the idea, but I'm not a fan of the way dof is used here. Sorry. |
