Sadly, none of my Salton Sea image made it into a single challenge this month. This would have been the last chance, and I did have one submitted for this FS. But in the end, I decided to submit this image - which just cracks me up. I got the chick from Carl Hunter, who is the subject of another portrait I took the following day. He marveled at how well behaved this little fuzzball was.

Really had to resist calling this Cheep on His Shoulder... Hope you enjoy viewing it as much a I enjoyed taking it.

That chick really has an attitude. The dude? He's got a cheep on his shoulder... :-) VERY fun shot. The chicken dinner shot was another worthy contender.

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: Really interesting portrait(s) with an unusual but very effective POV. The lighting is stand-out too. The chick cracks me up with it's unintimidated directness.

Critical stuff: i'd have perhaps reduced some of the red coloration from his head.

Overall: A very unusual portrait. I like it.

Love the contrast of the tough guy and the baby chick. Very nice.

The play on soft vs strong is very cool indeed.

This is so neat! At first it looks like an ordinary portrait but then you see the chick. LOL
