Early morning, Ocean City Pier. I love the painterly quality of this image. Photographed with the d7000 and my new Tokina 12-24. What a great lens!

Sarah, Thank you SO much for the critique.

I agree with you about the pier. I think I may revisit the image, there seems to be ghosting on the vertical posts. And yes, it's tonemapped.

Thanks again.

Greetings from the Critique Club

And welcome to DPC. I can see this is only your second entry here, so well done on achieving an almost 6 score in your second challenge.

I totally agree with you about the Tokina, it's a great lens. It's one of my favourites even if I don't use it nearly as often as I should.

Turning to your image. There's a lot to like about this one and I think you've done a great job with the long exposure. You captured the motion of the water swirling around the pier very nicely. The composition is excellent.

To me it looks like you have applied some type of tonemapping to the image and I can't quite decide if I like it or not. You've done a great job with the sea and sky, two things I find people tend to overdo. But there is something about the pier which troubles me. Not sure what I would do differently.

Anyway, overall I would say this is a well done image and clearly others thought so too, as you got a pretty decent score.

Look forward to your next entry.

Sarah
