It seems that I may misunderstood what was expected. I was not sure exactly what I was suppose to be photographing. However, the rules suggested photographing something coming out of a crack...after thinking about this my idea was to do a macro shot of weeds, grass, anything I could find coming out of the cracks. Obviously based on a comment received I lacked the urban part. My thoughts were geared towards taking something as ugly as grass, weeds growing out of cracks and make them look more artistic.

Regardless thank you everyone who took the time to vote.

In all honesty, I was making sure I had some of the rock in focus...so it would be clear what I was photographing. Unfortunately it was not well received. Sadly, I still like it:)

I think your score may have suffered because the shot did not immediately tell the voter that this was urban. To score well on DPC, you often need to show the voter that the image obviously fits the challenge title. It is important to remember that not all voters read the challenge description (but it is worthwhile to try to match both).

This is not to say that you SHOULD do this...but it is a way to score higher in challenges. Just remember that scoring high is not the only goal or measure here....

Thanks for the feedback it was helpeful...I do believe you are right. I will post the other shots I took later tonight. I think going forward if I'm unclear I will ask someone before I post.

good concept for the challenge and very tight dof, but i thing a little bit more detail would have worked better IMHO -5-

Nice but, again .... where the heck is the urban evidence here? I might as well give up making comments. There are so many nice pictures disregarding the challenge that I might as well not vote
