 Some will dislike this tone mapped treatment. I really like it; particularly the way it has turned the background trees into a more abstract backdrop.

I was frustrated by this being a 'Basic Editing' challenge and this treatment allowed me to do something interesting within the confines of the rules.

I really love it! And I know what you mean about being frustrated by the basic editing. I wanted SO BAD to make my sky layer a lower exposure than my bird so some pretty clouds that were there that day would show up. But this turned out amazing!

I can see the jesses on the bird's legs, so know this is a captive individual.
Even so, the composition is great.
It's a shame the background doesn't contrast more with the subject, as the bird would become a greater star of the show.

Seems like sharpening mask was set too high for my taste. Also, would have been nicer with some eye shine. Something about the color seems artificial -- perhaps an artifact of the sharpening used.

It's an interesting shot. I think the bird could stand out a bit more from the BG. Seeing the tether on it's ankle changes the context of the shot.

Looks like a Nat Geo cover to me. The pose, the action, the bokeh, the beautiful detail on the subject. I love it.

I really like the the bird...at first glance it reminded me of a bat the way it is hunched. Additionally, I like the blues adn browns together. The only thing I would have to say is your background seems busy and it is competing with your main subject.

Great shot, but judging by the tethers on the legs I'm guessing a bird show shot. That reduces the 'degree of difficulty' just a little IMO. Awesome focus on the head tho.
