Photographer’s Notes
I’ve had a busy month and little time to shoot for fun. On my way to a Real Estate Listing shoot, I walked through the garage of our apartment complex and found this neat hand-built camper trailer there. I grabbed my camera, set it up quickly for HDR (more later) and shot some handheld sets.

While I was shooting, a young fellow came up to me and asked it I liked the camper. I responded that I REALLY liked it and learned that he and his Dad built it by hand and they were traveling around the country in it. It had New York plates and we were sitting in a garage in Washington (the) State.

I liked the juxtaposition of a camping trailer sitting in a parking garage and wanted to fully exploit the contrast. So this is a very highly edited photo. I’m pretty sure it won’t do well in the voting … but I’m also sure you’ve never seen a photo like it at DPC. If it ends up at 5.5 +/- .5 … these words will never see the light of day. Alas.

HDR setup: 1) Set camera to burst mode, 9 frames per second; 2) Set auto bracketing to 7 images, 2/3 of an f/stop apart; 3) Set ISO 5000 to deal with dim light; 4) Set aperture to f/2.8 to shorten shutter speed; 5) hold really really still and squeeze off 7 shots at a time. I wasn’t worried about noise, in fact I added more in post. I wasn’t worried about depth of field, in fact I wanted to focus attention on the camper and if the rest was blurred, fine.
