Second attempt, first entry.

I almost think my contrast is too much and my dof is too little. Well, not almost, I do think that.

I actually rather like this one, though I'm afraid it falls a bit short of Weston's style on the two counts above and then some.

If I get a chance to reshoot, I will. If not, we'll let the chips fall where they may. :P

cool shell - and nicely converted to b/w - i just wonder if having the shell completely in focus would give this a more obvious Weston like feel

Lovely shell, nicely captured. Two big issues for me: the bg is very flat and featureless, the dof way too shallow. A tighter crop may have helped the former, but a bigger f stop was needed for the latter. (not voting)
