he only went to the store for 5 minutes....

i couldnt resist, i know im a terrible mother haha

ETA: JUST TO CLARIFY (haha)

his father ran to the store down the road literally for five minutes to get some things for dinner - my little man here had a hissy fit when he left as they had been watching a movie together. i tried to comfort him at first but he has just turned 2 and knows how to throw a wobbly, so I just had to giggle at him and snap a few pictures of the adorable pouty faces he was making.

i will admit i had this challenge in the back of my mind and tried to shoot a few more "artistic" type photos than what the majority were - which were snap-shoty types just for posterity. and although i did a B&W version i am a sucker for my sons big blue eyes :) so that is what won here.

thanks for all the kind comments! although not a PB by score (by a hair) this is by far my best placed imaged here at DPC yet!

Come on, this was the saddest picture of the lot. This deserved to have placed much higher than 15th. It is an awesome picture. I gave two pictures 8's in this challenge -- yours and the one that won the blue. There were a lot of staged sadness pictures, but this one captures the true emotion. Great job.

This is adorable. I feel the sheer temporary nature of his tears.

Well you certainly captured sadness - though I truly hope it was a spur of the moment seen & captured rather than a created 'forced' one taken for the sake of challenge. The reaction I get is the need to comfort this little crying boy. The photo strengths is that the child is showing genuine emotion - those are real tears welling up in the eyes and rolling down the cheeks. The picture has good focus and good lighting. My critique on the photo is that I think the presentation could be stronger if it was in B&W. The color version calls too much attention to the shirt and the off white tones of the wall - why that would be important is because the tones don't allow the main subject to visually "pop" off of the backdrop. A B&W with good dynamic tones in shadows and highlights will keep the attention focused on the main subject without color being a distraction. (not voting)
