I was struggling with a subject for this challenge and wanting to get out shooting, but the Saturday morning before it was due I had to finally get out and cut my back yard grass that I had let grow to shin height. I happened to notice a couple of patches of weeds that were long and slender that had sprouted these tiny blue flowers. The flowers are about 3/8" diameter.

So before I mowed them down, I grabbed my camera and macro lens for a few shots. I was lucky to get some decent shots because the wind was blowing and it was mid-day. The tall slender grass in the background helped tremendously with the bokeh. I'm just glad that I spotted these tiny flowers just as they had opened up and were fresh.

What is so amazing about this photo is how the blooms almost appear to be sitting in a pool of green, as if the surface tension of some metaphorical liquid is holding them up for us to observe. Splendid stuff.

Gloriously delicate in DOF, colors and composition. Bokeh gives soft definition to the stems but lets the flowers star in the scene.

The only critique I have is that I wish the colours were more vibrant. However IMO the over all tone of the image and composition is friking awesome. Painting like. 10

The way the flowers are almost fcompletely isolated is great. Like they are alone in space. Was the vigneting intentional?

IMO your flowers are slightly oversharpened. That being said, it's about the only flower shot I've seen so far where the background actually served to highlight the main subject matter, as opposed to competing with it, very nice work.
