Very cool. I love the way the sky looks - like a texture brush went running rampant. The sprig of flames is an interesting contrast to the rest of the background.

Wow, Joe, I love this! The blaze, the flying things, the big black "eyes" in the background and most of all the position of the two figures, such a great story! Great image.
Btw... jomari mentions carbon deposit... didn't you have your camera repaired, and was it after this event??

Wow, I never would've expected this to be your entry, Joe! (other than the whole Florida connection)
All I mean by that is I didn't really think it was in your style at all. In any case, very nice, and I'm glad you got some recognition in the comments, since this isn't the sort of thing that scores well in a FS.
The textures in the sky are very surprising and cool, almost look like an overlay.

Durable. It deserves the longer look, and rewards it.

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: Fabulous colours and a marvellous texture to the sky - the streaks like dancing embers. I like the blur too - it brings the image to life and helps transport us; my face almost feels hot just looking at the image. The figures are compelling and we wonder about them - are they safe, are they culpable, are they know to you? Questions left unanswered and the image is all the better for it.

Critical stuff: Nothing really.

Overall: A great scene and one that you have done justice to.

Very effective, but the sky looks strange. It reminds me of shots I've taken of my wood-burning heater's door. Did you get a carbon deposit on your filter?

Is that the devil himself I see peeking over the horizon?
