~~~~Critique Club Comment~~~~
Courtside
Composition (Content)
You have captured motion perfectly. The fact that everything but the girls running are sharp and in focus is terrific. I will tend to agree with the other comments that some different crops may have worked better. I'm thinking portrait mode closer in on the players just left of the coach standing on the left side and just right of the last running player on the right. Keep the bee and the some of the foreground court.
Background
White balance may be an issue, but not a major distraction. Did you NeatImage this? It's very clean of noise. Excellent DOF.
Camera Work (Technical)
Good shutter speed used to capture the motion of the girls running but not so long as to blur the people moving in the background.
Digital Processing (Technical)
Sharpening is good(Doesn't look like you over sharpened this photo)
Balance between light and dark is good. (Good job considering the location)
Compression is good(No noticeable compression artifacts)
My opinion
I like this shot a lot. Different crops may have made it an even stronger shot.
Don't think you need so much bakground -- I'd crop tighter to the group of running players, maybe a vertical cr if you really want to include the logo. |
That bee looks a bit constipated hehe. I like how the girl with the ball is almost in focus except for her hands. |
You've captured the perfect moment for the challenge. The contrast between the static and the moving players is great. I think a close crop around the players may have made a better shot though - the background is too distracting.
It's very cool how the only player on the court that you can clearly make out is the girl with the ball. Very interesting shot. 9 |
You know what? I like it. Some might say that the bee in the background is too distracting, but it makes this alot more interesting. I also like the fact that all the girls are in motion except one. The colours off, but might be able to fix it in an editing software. Good capture. Jacko 8 |
Like how the player with the ball is sharp and how the motion of the others is captured towards the ball. Could have been framed a little better though. Still my favorit sports picture of this challenge. |
This is a good shot. If this was in the middle of a game then you did a wonderful job. You got the main subject in focus and you blurred the rest getting back on defense. The only thing I can say is the court is tilted a little. That can cause for static which makes it a bit unattractive. You used the rule of thirds nicely and the color is very good considering you were in a halogen light Gym. Was it possible to set you White balance manually? If not then Bravo. I am not sure if there is a problem with the whitebalance but if you used auto for it try customizing your WB. it can make a great diff. |
I like how the girl with the ball is crisp and in focus. The lighting in this shot is strange but looks good. the picture overall draws a lot of attention to the girl with the ball. Though I might have cropped the benched players in the top right out of the shot. |
a closer crop on the motionless girl would have made this shot a winnar. |
If the moving players were a little less blurred than they are (I know that you were trying to blur them) then I would of scored you slightly higher. jgillard6 |
you might have slightly rotated the photo and cropped it so the focus could be exclusively on the players. nice shot. |
Very good picture. I might have cropped a little tighter, but then my pictures never win, so don't take me for an expert. 8 |
