You might find that voters like clean precise compositions. The idea of the photo was valid enough and can still lead to an exploration of the subject. This photo looks too cluttered and is not arranged in a pleasing fashion. I would suggest picking two items that have a relationship to each other, say the stapler and ruler, and working on different compositions just using them. When you have a pleasing shot, add another item. Try not to use more than 3 objects. Good luck.

You have a nice range of blues here. The light is a bit to glaring. Perhaps more subtle lighting from one side with a "bounce" on the other side? or acouple of lights a different angles depending what you'd like to do with your shadows. The image doesn't seem quite sharp also - does you camera have a manual setting, sometimes the photographer's eye is better than the camera's.

bad composition. and the picture seems 'unpolished'
i would recommend reading up on the 'rule of thirds' of compositon

Lighting's a little harsh. Did you use the built-in flash on the camera? Also, in compositions like this, I find that getting lower helps a lot, right down on the ground on your belly, even. 8-) I like the variety of blue shades here though, with better lighting this could be very nice.

there is alot of blue here, so meets the challenge in that respect. I would suggest using a more attractive backround at least, and if the cup handle had been tuned sideways you probably would have a better focus on that.

Lacked clarity, contrast, interest, focus.

Try it without the flash and with a straight on view.
