| By any other name...not a fan of harsh lighting on delicate subjects; and the background is so stark, but not enough make it a statement of contrast. |

The background is washed out, and therefore the image looks plain. The rose could have more contrast in order for it to stand out.
I'm also not sure this is the nicest side of this rose. I think had you turned the rose a little so we could 'view' it from a different angle, the shapes would've looked nicer. |

| IMO your BG is distracting...if you had dropped your f-stop below 5 you would get that lovely ooey gooey background |
