Thanks for all the constructive and positive comments! james_so pretty much hit the nail on the head and for that reason I don't mind the score at all. Hopefully next time I can find the time to shoot FOR a challenge, instead of the other way around =).
And chinajoe: If you wish to make a criticism, please do it in a constructive way (which I will happily take on board). As it stands I fail to see how my image; showing a stone in the air, fails to meet the criteria when your image; showing popcorn in the air, does. the only difference is the closer crop on yours which can be argued makes your image meet the challenge better, but both images ultimately represent a similar occurrence and so must both meet criteria or neither, no? My guess is however, that you spent more time copy/pasting the rules in to my image than actually looking at the image, and so failed to see the stone. |

I love the elliptical energy of your composition. Great moment and nice conversion. |

I would've prefered a lower angle and more emphasis on the actual rock. It'd meet the challenge better. |

the high angle of the shot seems to work against the 'lighter than air' theme |

While you have certainly met the challenge criteria, the subject is such a small part of the shot it makes it feel a bit like you were desperate to enter. Ignoring the challenge entirely I do like this image though, especially the frozen splash. |

Read the contest description.
Capture objects in the air. Use a fast shutter speed to capture objects off-the-ground in an unusual way. Through your camera, photograph the world in suspended animation unlike you normally would.
This doesn't meet the contest criteria. Completely ordinary. |
