Funny story: I went to photograph this place on Tuesday after dark. Got a few shots, but realized I needed to re-shoot to do it better. So I went back Wednesday right before dusk. I set up across the street, and noticed people looking at me from inside the place. Then this large fellow, I assume the manager or owner, comes out, walks across the street and asks me what I was doing. I tell him I am a photographer doing a local eating establishment shoot. He says, "Next time, just come in and tell us. We saw you on the security camera and were concerned." THEN he goes back inside, and sends his workers out to change a lightbulb, and proceeds to check and make sure everything looks tip-top as I continue to photograph.
It is a sad state of our post 9/11 world that a guy taking photos of a little eating joint from across the street is "suspect" and raises concern. But it is also nice that people take pride in their places and want to present themselves in the best light.
Tech: 3 exposures processed in HDR Efex Pro, with additional cleanup using Capture NX2 |

Selective color might hurt it in voting but I like it! |

Selective desat looks good. I'd like to see more detail on the building. |

This is a decent use of selective saturation to really pull the eyes in. Unfortunately the strange shading in the sky is very distracting. |

I like the scene, though there is a fair amount of visible haloing that hurts it some. |
