 Less than 4 months old and now able to capture it's own food. This is one of 3 Red Tail Hawks that was raised by it's parents on a window ledge at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. This family of hawks finds plenty to eat between center city and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. This is the 3rd year that this pair of Red Tail Hawks has successfully raised their young on that window ledge.

Seriously, this is a gorgeous shot and I scored it high!! I love the light and the bokeh and the bird is stunning.... couldn't figure out how it could be a city bird but now I know:)

OMG, look at that tongue! Incredible. A little soft in the feathers but I don't think that matters. The eyes and beak are sufficiently sharp, and that is what really does justice to a raptor.
