Greetings from the Critique Club!
The painted feet make a striking image. They are nicely posed and the crop is perfect. The anklets complement the painting and are a great touch. The background is dark and subdued enough that it doesn't compete for attention with the subject (at least to me); I like the choice and the way the feet are placed in relation to it.
The lighting seems to work very well; it shows off the interesting texture of the wrinkled skin very nicely without leaving the shadows too dark. But the image is slightly overexposed, which has caused the painting to appear washed in some areas. What's tricky is that the overexposure is only in the red channel. The image has a nice warm color overall which certainly adds to the cozy feeling it conveys. But the camera adjusts the exposure for the overall luminosity, not for the individual channels or the redness that creates the warmth here.
Focus is great, and f/11 gave a large depth of field, keeping the background in sharp focus. This, I think, was the right choice for this image. The focus is somewhat soft and that works just fine even though I personally would prefer the feet to be just a little sharper to enhance the detail of the painting. |

Rooster, this is beautiful. Very artsy. I thought it would place higher, but congrats on your 31st place anyway!! |

This was my favorite. The colors are great and the pose of the feet perfect. I was amazed that the patterns and colors did not clash and thought the rug was a great choice of a background. |

Lovely colours, a very attractive image........and it isn't easy to make feet attractive. |

I can't vote but I did want to comment on this. I just kind of thought that the toe nails on the model look like they had a very unprofessional pedicure and that kind of clashes with the very professional and clean looks of the painted foot and the rug. I might have painted the nails a darker color red, closer to that of the carpet. And the foot in the forground is turned a bit on the right side and I can't see the artwork on the foot clearly even though I want to. IMO |

excellent angle on the feet and interesting decorations. I think, though, that the choice of the rug as the background could have been better. while it might fit thematically with the foot pint sumbols, it competes with them too much. A simpler background would have emphasized the feet. |

the rug competes strongly with the feet and yet I like the abundance |

With such an intricate pattern painted on the feet a completely plain floor surface would be much much better. Ignoring that carpet pattern, the composition (position of feet within frame etc) works well. |

This needs a simpler background which doesn't compete with the painted designs. A sandy beach would have been appropriate.
Edited post-voting Hi there...I'm sorry my comment was kind of blunt and overly critical sounding.
My feelings about this image were that her feet were gorgeous and the painting was beautifully done but the rather busy carpet tends to compete with the painted elements. My instinct was that you chose the carpet to enhance the Eastern theme of the mandala and I should have made it clear that I was aware you had made a specific choice. My opinion is that an outdoors, natural background (my instinct says sand or sand and water) would have emphasized the organic,free-spirited quality of the woman who belongs to these lovely feet.

Wow, those are beautifully painted feet. How long did that take to do? I really enjoy the contrast between the feet and rug. Wonderful shot. |
