A wonderful image, John. Very evocative. A real horse or a carousel, I wonder?

The title is very apt. I still see joy and happiness in the image. Shows how little info one's brain need to "get the picture".

Sometimes you're up and sometimes you're down... and sometimes you just go round and round. I love the crop and the composition... but mostly I just like the thought.

I love the barest hint of the horse's face. An abstraction of a summer long gone.

Can't say that I'm crazy about the editing here.

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: Noise aplenty here - but put to good use. The obscuring noise is curtain-like - makes us keep our distance and keeps them private - it feels like we are invisible to them as a consequence and as such it feels like we are looking at an authentic (and truly unobserved) scene. You have left exactly enough of the horse to assist the brain in making sense of the scene.

Critical stuff: Nothing really - it is an extreme image that should not be compromised.

Overall: Bold, effective stuff.

I like the heavy textured look.

The only way I knew it was a horse was the title. I wanted to see more.
