Location: Knapdale Forest, Scotland

Taken by piggybacking the 5D on a Meade ETX-90, roughly polar aligned. 4 x 5 min exposures at ISO 800 plus 2 x 1 min exposures at ISO 1600, stacked for noise reduction in Deep Sky Stacker then finished in Photoshop.

The elongated fuzzy 'star' over to the left is the Andromeda Galaxy, our nearest galactic neighbour at 2.5 million light years.

Outstanding. Congrats on the HM, but I'm sorry to say it deserved a ribbon. Great stuff.

IMO all these Astro Photos should automatically be given top 5 status. (If done well) Water drops and colorful paper get all the scores here.

A photo like this is truly a long exposure. 10

I often look up, but never saw this with my bare eyes. So I presume that this is done with a telescope :)

I hope people appreciate the amount of work put into getting this type of photo. Will be interesting to see where you took it from and the settings you used. You get a 10 from me!

Incredible shots of the milky way... The galaxy to the left, is that M31?

A reminder just how small and inconsequential we are in the greater scheme of things... oh and a lovely photo too!
Its a wonderful documentary type of photo. I wish it had a bit of something here on earth too in the shot to show the scale etc... kind of like the other shot in this challenge.
