Let's see how badly this last minute entry does. I wouldn't be surprised at a sub-5 result. I just didn't have the opportunities to do things I wanted (although this is a shot I wanted to try for a while).
I really do like the angle of dynamic movement and the lighting I came up with. The camera was set outside of the shower, and I was inside holding flash with a mini soft box pointing up at the shower head. This kept the spill on the walls to a minimum, and lit everything as dramatically as possible.
I would have loved to have more of the water drops in focus, but even at f/14 they were falling out of the DOF range. Also, my cheap wireless flash trigger only allows up to 1/250s shutter. If I could have doubled that I think this would have been even cooler.

Wow, after most of the first day votes are in (a surprising 73 votes in just 18 hours), this is sitting at a 6.1. Much much better than I expected, and with two great comments already!

The humble shower gets its 15-min of fame!
I like the choice of subject and the camera work.
I am not a photographer. As a layman I just was wondering whether the maker's markings on the shower head is a distraction.
I am happy to add this cool piece of work to my favs. |
