 Believe it or not, I was asked to write a procedure on how to prepare a hard boiled egg as a competency test for my first technical writing job in 1990. It's not as easy as you think! This procedure got me on the employer's shortlist of candidates, and I'm certain I would have been hired if the company had not gone bankrupt during the hiring process.

For this photo, I photocopied my original dot matrix printout, marked it up with "author testing" comments, took the photo, and then adjusted the levels and saturation.
