Challenge: Botany II (Advanced Editing VII)
Camera: Nikon D300
Lens: Sigma 150mm f/2.8 EX APO Macro EX DG HSM for Nikon
Date: Nov 27, 2011
Aperture: F13
ISO: 640
Shutter: 5.0
Galleries: Nature, Floral
Date Uploaded: Nov 27, 2011

I borrowed a cactus for this shot. Lit using two SB900's, one almost immediately above shot in a bounce umbrella @ 1/2 the other left slightly below axis at very low power for fill. The fading of the stalk is done by my finger in front of the lens; almost straight from camera.
Not thinking this will do all that well against the flowers, but I'm happy.

I'm surprised you did not get a 6+ score on this one. The lighting is fabulous. The cactus shape is quite intriguing. I'd think people would want to study this one.

Looks edible and due to my poor knowledge, similar to an underwater form of life.

My first thought was what is an alien doing in a botany challenge. Then I remembered that aliens don't exist (wink). The cream is very hot compared to the black shadows. I wanted to see a touch more of the green to ground the concept.

That's cool (and totally unfamiliar). It reminds me of an Elizabethan ruff.
