Oh my! Top 10! I was not expecting that. Thank you for your comments and votes everybody.

The story behind the picture:
I had been wandering around the zoo for a few hours, really frustrated because nothing good was showing up for the Family challenge. There were several orangutan babies with mothers, but of course they stayed in the very back of the enclosure. The giraffe baby wasn't out that day. And all couply animals were sleeping.
By the time I passed the elephants I was nearly despairing. The elephants were not even standing close to one another and the lighting was glaringly harsh and awkward. But there was a cute human family standing watching the elephants, so I walked over hoping to snag a cute picture of them.
And then the magical moment happened. One elephant walked to the other and they stood caressing each other. I took pictures with rapid fire. They stood like this for about a minute, and then they separated again and each stood in their own corner as if it never happened.

Great capture of their interaction. They are very touchy feely aren't they?

Very sweet moment and I like the composition and back lighting. It works better for me above the trunks where the background is dark -- not as well across the bottom. Nice detail.

This is very sweet, a good interpretation since elephants are known for their familial affection and the great care they take of each other. It bothers me a little that the bottom half light is blown out and the top half is jet black, makes it look a bit odd; nice and sharp though and generally, I like this.
