Beautiful work Clive. Surprised to find it way down here, although based on the in voting comments, I shouldn't be.

Good use of dramatic (natural?) light. Up close but unrevealing.

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: Wonderfully Beautifully subtle portrait (from memory, this looks like Clive's dad). The dark side of the face is sublime - exactly the right amount of luminosity; and the DOF works so well. the slightly eccentric framing and the use of negative space works (but not without some slight discordant visual harmonic) - you've create some visual tension there.

Critical stuff: Despite the above, my brain wants me to say that it wants a bit more room below his chin.

Overall: Masterfully done - portrait over picture. Well done.
