This may not be my best of 2011, but it was my big accomplishment.
I had been wanting to take a slow shutter speed shot of rough water for a many months. This particular morning, I woke up before dawn and saw the conditions were right. Still in my PJs (so as not to wake up my husband while dressing), I conquered my apprehension, and drove 5 miles on a deserted unpaved road through dark woods to reach this spot on Lake Superior. Still in the dark, I climbed down some slippery rocks to reach this spot, and set up my tripod. I tried different settings, used neutral density filters, experimented with shutter speeds, was eaten alive by mosquitoes, and got this shot. I was elated when I got home -- I was so proud of overcoming my fears and accomplishing my goal. |
