My first ever sphere creation in CS. Original image was incense stick smoke.

A couple of people have asked how I did this and if I'm honest I can't remember all steps and no longer have the original image however it would have been very much like this...

the above is pretty much out of the camera after whizzing through LR4. then..
topaz de noise
unsharp mask
resized
Radial gradient tool, overlay at 40%
Altered the canvas size
Duplicated layer and flipped vertically setting the layer to screen.
flattened layer, duplicated it and rotated 90CW
flattened layer, duplicated it and rotated 45CW
flattened layer, duplicated it and rotated 22.5CW
I may have done another rotation at 11.25 and or a horizontal flip of the last layer but not sure.

That left me with a nice smoke wheel...

Things then get a bit trial and error using the, perspective and distort tools in CS before flicking the ends with the liquify tool. (I may have used the spherise tool as well but not sure with this version.

That is the extent of my knowledge, the 'glass ball' was created by following a tutorial I found. I made an action out of it but it doesn't run for some reason so it's a time consuming activity for somebody with my skill level. If anybody wants to try a glass ball I'll dig out the tutorial ;)
