This was taken at the Charlotte City Hall in Charlotte, Tennessee. I didn't have much time to prepare for the challenge, so I don't expect this to do too well. I just wanted to get my feet wet - first challenge.

The flag is not the hope of a nation. It is out of focus, poorly lit and dead center of the picture. There are hundreds of thousands of US flags flying at any given moment. How is you image unique?

Is the flag the hope?
Could be more interesting photo if the flag wasn't in the middle of it and perhaps in stronger colors.

Without the title, I don't get "Hope" out of this. At least not in the first ten words that flash through my mind: "Stars", "Stripes", "Red", "White", "Blue", "USA", "Freedom", "Pride", "Honor", "Francis Scott Key", "Ameica the Beautiful" ... see?

With dpc being international I think you will suffer in the votes. It helps to think global.

I am not sure I feel a strong tie in to the theme here. Well focused but centered comp isn't as interesting to me as other choices might have been. In todays political environment, and with the international audience of DPC, this may have been a risky choice of subjects for the theme "hope."

There were always going to be some flags in this entry. Not very original and not a particularly exciting picture. Purhaps if it was strightend and cropped more tightly.

may be better if cropped closer so flag fills the frame
