 The idea to do this was easy. The first thing that came to mind when this challenge came up were my army boots.

I did very little editing. crop, slight brightening, and slight color correction.

I think this is a good idea... there is just something a little off here, in my opinion. Maybe it's the direct sunlight washing the photo out? Perhaps some more experienced members here could help.

Good set up. The lighting doesn't really convey a mood of any sort. THe emotion of pride is not really shown in any way. I think use of a different viewpoint and low key lighting could have helped this a lot.
