Biography: I have always been fascinated by photographs, particularly landscape and wildlife shots. The brilliance and artistry that can be produced through photography is amazing. In high school I (was inspired by and)wrote a report on Ansel Adams, I so wanted to be able to produce that sort of work.

I took a (B&W)photography class in high school, where we developed our own prints. It was a wonderful experience trying to find those awe inspiring shots, then come back to the darkroom to discover what I was able to capture.

(But)... being a photographer in my own right is not always a joyous experience. There are many times where my eye see something dramatic, I take the shot, and then be disappointed when the photograph doesn't invoke the same emotions as I had when I took the shot. Sometimes textures (just go flat when displayed - are hard to capture?) in a photo.

For a while I was without a camera, so many of those scenes I enjoyed were relegated to my personal memories, which is all good, but they can get superseded by other "important" things and fade out. Then we purchased a professional camera for us both, but it was difficult to share the one camera. I wanted to let my wife express her artistic creativity and I didn't want to override that with my relearning of the media. Just recently we were able to purchase a camera just for me, now I have the freedom to play with the media and try and capture those scenes and share them with others. To be able to capture and/or create an image that someone else truly appreciates is a wonderful feeling.

I am joining my wife in wedding/event photography and learning the art of portrait photography. Though for the most part I will be leaving those shots to my wife and take a photo journalistic point of view in my photos.
