Biography: I'd only came here to get the first gold ribbon of 2012, which I achieved.

    A bit about me:
In 1976-1977 I was a photographer and graphics artist working for a multi-millionaire company director. He'd employed me because 1. he was impressed by my knowledge of photo manipulation, advanced darkroom post processing, and for my unique camera technique (way ahead of its time, though I didn't know it) and 2. also because another member of my family was employed.

It was my first legal paid job and it was great fun. I had personal use of some of the best gear in the industry and was responsible for many £1000's worth of still and motion picture gear (in today's money more like a £million). With this gear there wasn't any need for "image sharpening" because all images were razor sharp, thanks to Kodak film and the best equipment money can buy. Selective blurring was used. My artwork was sometimes used in local newspapers for publication, but most of my output appeared in technical magazines for industry, such as adverts and articles.

Nowdays just about all industrial magazines have the dramatic lighting effects, colour distortions, camera angles and tilts achieved by 'misused' equipment. It was my particular 'punk' style, and it evolved out of rebellion against the purist photo community who said it was "sacrilege" to misuse camera and lighting equipment the way I did.

It's only since I'd retired as an aerospace electronics designer that I have taken an passing interest in 'photography'.
