    Biography: Nov 1, 2008: I am just coming back to this site after a two year break and it is very interesting to look back on some of the things I submitted way back when. It really goes to show you how much you have learned in the last few years.

    Bio: My professional career lies in software engineering and I am currently designing software for avionics systems. I am also a martial arts instructor and a first degree black belt. I continue to advance my photography skills by constant practice, attending Photoshop World and other seminars, and learning from the pro's on Kelby Training. While I do not have any plans to make photography my primary career, I still plan to advance my skill level as far as I possibly can in my life time.

    I spend a lot more time working with models and shooting people than shooting landscapes or still life. I find people to be much more interesting on so many levels. However, I have been doing more and more landscape and still life photography since getting into HDR theory and creating digital art rather than simple photographs. Much of my work can be seen on my blog or Flickr account.

    How I Rate: When I am rating photos I look for creative ideas and photos that stand apart from all the rest. I go through the entire set and rate every photo based on my first impression. Then I go back and look at the contact sheet of all the images and adjust the ratings that I gave based on how each image fits amongst the rest. I put most of my consideration in how good of an idea the shot was and how well the photographer executed it. If I have something to say about a photo I will leave a comment. Please do not be offended if I leave what could be perceived as a negative remark. I try very hard to make sure I explain why I rated the photo low and what I think it needs to be better. I also tend to comment on all the photos that I give an 8 or higher rating to tell why I like it so much. I hope that everyone else does the same to me; good or bad.
