    Biography: Hey Everyone,

First, "woutje" is my nickname online. There is a story behind the name. My last name is Dutch in origin and translates to woodhouse. One day, while being introduced as Mr. Wouthuis to some kids, my co-workers said "that was too hard, call him Mr. Woodhouse." Well someone else said "Just call him Woody!" This happened during the time that the TV show Cheers was on and I immediately protested because of the mental limitations of the Woody character. So, needless to say, the nickname stuck but when I went to get an Internet ID, Woody was taken, so I went with sort of a Dutch equivalent to Woody and that was Woutje.

So, as for photography, I have owned an SLR of some type since 1994. I didn't understand the technical basics of an SLR until I purchased my Digital Rebel in late 2003. I used to exclusively use programmed modes, but I have evolved to the manual modes. Now comes the hard part .... developing my eye and trying to create artistic photos. I have so much to learn.

I work for a financial institution that is owned by a large Canadian retailer. I have been involved in Information Technolgy since leaving university and I have a Bachelor of Mathematics degree from the University of Waterloo.

The best part of life is my son Noah, he's 9 (as of July 2010) and full of energy. He loves playing hockey and lacrosse and occasionally still let's his dad take a photo or two of him. I am really proud of Noah ... he really is an awesome kid.

I'm here to learn!!! Constructive criticism is always appreciated!

BTW ... I opened up shop as a Photographer for hire. I'm offering Wedding and Portrait photography in the Niagara Region. Check out Richard's Photography for more details.
