Biography:

For over 20 years I've worked in the Film & Television industry and ~~am currently employed by a metro Detroit advertising agency as a Production Director. I arrived at that position by being their Cinematographer, Senior Editor & Producer for 12+ years~~ am now self-employed, having started my own creative and production services company in 2013. A few months after getting my first DSLR, a good friend of mine pointed me in the direction of DPC and it changed my life and career completely. I credit this site with winding me up about photography, teaching me everything I thought I already knew about it and showing me how differently many people can view the same photo. It taught me how to have empathy for other people's perceptions of an image and how that's an important part of creating good ones.

Still photography was a hobby of mine a long time ago, but for 11+ years it has continued to weave itself into my life and become a part of my professional career as a cinematographer and designer. This site, coupled with the work of all the great photographers across the world, inspired me to add photography to the list of life's pursuits.

There really are some truly GREAT photographers here, too - both professional & hobbyists - hopefully I can continue to absorb a little of what they have to offer. I pretty much took a long hiatus from DPC as my professional work in television and photography as well as a return to one of my other passions, music, continues to dominate my life. Photographically speaking, that first challenge back in 2006 seems like a lifetime ago.

I remember how regularly participating in challenges can really get the creative juices going and I love seeing how this community has continued to grow so I stop back in here occasionally... with a busy job, an obsession with music that matches my love of photography, and a family with 5 kids... it can be tricky to find the time to take pictures for pure pleasure anymore so it's been a while since I took part in any challenges. I find that disappointing and, quite frankly, a detriment to my photography. Maybe I'll get around to participating again if life ever slows down for me...
