Go go gadget stock!

We'll see tonight whether or not our gamble paid off :)

The beast is slowly rumbing to life. Could pop for you.

BTW, for the record, had Shannon taken me up on our little gentlemen's bet, I would have predicted that AAPL will not outperform the S&P by more than 6% at a date six months from now. What's that based on? Very little, but I still stand by it.

Hope you get a nice 5-7% bump tonight.

Thanks, me too.

Dang. I think we're talking about the wrong stock... NFLX (Netflix) popped 33% after reporting today.

Man, that ticker is all over the place! I've seen 525 and 499 all within a minute.

499 must've been a small trade, 504.77 shows as the day's low on my ticker. Finished near the day high, 514. So I'm in the black tonight by averaging down my previous, higher SP buys, yay.

Umm, I hate to break the news but the after hours trading (also after earnings) has it back down in the 490 range. I guess we won't be getting that hoped for Shannon visit after all.

Well, I tried to help out. I bought my iPhone 5 on Sunday, and don't know why I didn't buy one years ago. Highly addictive, and together with the iPad Mini and the iMac they all work very nicely together.

Although I'm spending too much time staring at gadget screens now. I need help.

Oh well, nothing ventured, nothing gained. We'll see how it looks tomorrow, but i'll probably sell. Amazing how a company can post record profits and the stock dives 10%.

I'm selling at 500. This is ridiculous.

My question is, will there be a nice dead-cat-bounce so jeger and I can sell at less of a loss?

At least it seems like it's stabilized. All the drop was done after hours last night and it hasn't continued to drop this morning.

I was looking at Netflix when it was around $100, but never bought any. Of course, if I had bought it back then, it had the big dip recently, and that's where I would've sold. It's so annoying that I could be rich if only I could see the dang future! But nooooo, I'm a regular Mr. Buy High & Watch It Plummet Guy. :-P

I'll probably hold on to the extra shares for a while and wait until the stock gets really low before making a decision. I don't mind holding long term, as there's a dividend now, but it's tying up capital that I'd like to have sitting elsewhere.

I've been telling you for years to just buy gold. And not the secret stash of nuggets you've got in your basement either.

Personally, I have been rather partial to land...it's not like someone can put in their back pocket and sneak away in the dark.

Yeah, but land means taxes and insurance. It requires outlay while you hold it.

But what makes investing in land so risky? Well, here are some issues to consider:

1. The majority of raw land purchases generate no income during the period of ownership, thereby creating a negative cash flow situation due to the accrual of ongoing property taxes.
2. Because land is fundamentally considered indestructible, there's no depreciation allowed for federal income tax purposes.
3. The municipality in which the land is located governs by zoning how the land can be used.
4. Development of the land is also subject to environmental testing and regulations.
5. Raw land is the most illiquid investment of all of real estate; which, as a whole, is considered to be an illiquid investment genre. It can take literally years to sell some land parcels, and others truly may not be marketable at any price.

I'm surprised he hasn't quit. Who takes a 99% cut in compensation and sticks around? How does he make ends meet?

My son showed this to me today and said he was laughing so hard he cried. I think it may sum the problem up succinctly.
