I am sooo excited! I am getting one of my dream lenses next week
It was $200 off as well, so I saved enough to get it. It is brand new..
All my other lenses I was able to get used from adorama
28-90- $25.00
100-300 $35.00
been a long time a coming but never the less, I finally get it!
Pentax D-FA 100mm f/2.8 Macro WR (Weather Resistant) Auto Focus Lens with Hood
My next wish is to get a 500mm Sigma zoom, but that will come next year then I am all happy and content with my lenses :-))
Whats on your wish lists??!

Ditto - waiting for a txt message from the camera shop. Maybe trading in a lot of gear for this one :) |

Thanks!!
I am going to have a huge learning curve with it just to figure it out and I was told it will be good for portraits too but I have no experience with that yet
Not going to be like my extention tubes or my raynox lens :-))

I am soo shocked I got the lens today! I was so not expecting it until next week sometime.
Of course I had to play with it and so far I can say I am loving it!!
I think I will try it with my macro rails, lighting and extension tubes. I am sooo happy with the quality! No wonder why it costs so much money for good glass!
here are some examples of the "playing around" I did not spend a lot of time on editing these at all, I forgot to turn my camera back in RAW
I am not to used to having just a fixed lens and I am treating it like a zoom but this is going to be a huge learning curve for me and I have to find out how to know what the sweet spot is, as a matter of fact I have no idea what the sweet spots are on any of my lenses, but I keep hearing talk about it.
But I am just enjoying the heck out of it. Now, to save up for my 500mm lens and I will be all set!
Now to put my UV lens on it to protect the glass a bit LOL

First lesson of macro, set your magnification by setting focus distance, then move yourself and the camera instead of trying to focus |

i impulse purchased the canon 100mm 2.8 L macro last week having fun with it but you need lots of light,
has anyone used these cheap LED ring flashes?

i have got the elinchrom quadra ring flash but thought it might be a bit big?
i also bought the manfroto macro slider, allows accurate adjustment foraward and back makes focusing or focus stacking a lot easier

I am turning this into a clickable link to help other lazy people like myself ......... cheap ring flash
I did try those a few years ago. Found that they were pathetic...... the output was NOT what I had hoped for. They compared a bit more to a match (although the temp/white balance was better). I think this is one of those cases of "you get what you pay for". I am yet to find the budget to pay for the REAL thing.

I purchaseed a cheap LED one on amazon and love it!!!!
I have found other heapies which were really bad and not worth a penny.. you do get what you pay for as beetle said.
Very powerful and the thing of it was it is all plastic and nothing metal for 40$ i got a really nice macro rail with it and that was all heavy duty metal. When i get home I will send the link to what I have brought.
Here is a new try with the set focus first.. and thank you Cory...that makes much more sense on how I need to use this lens.. totally different than zooms for sure. So much to learn on this
Had it on the 1:1 setting
This one was done with my macro rail used for the first time.
I was wondering how to do that haha
