Is anyone using this app? PhotoPills
I think Ann suggested something similar but I don't remember.
How do you use your app? |

I don't use that but I've used The Photographer's Ephemiris for years. |

They say by the end of 2016. I added my email to the list to be notified when it is available.
Edited to add link: FAQs

This does look like a really neat app. I'd definitely give it a go when the Android version is released... |

I travel a lot and would love to be able to do a little planning and hopefully get good weather on particular days. Night shooting is something that has intrigued me. And I'd love to give this a real go. My only problem is that to a "degree" I can't pick the top best time to shoot something that is in a place that I'll be traveling to. BUT it will give me better tools to plan with. I can although do more long term planning on local things ~ sunset/sunrise, moon rise, moon set and possible star trails. I think this could be a very useful tool. |

I have PhotoPills for my iPhone6s. The Augmented reality on sun and moon positions is pretty cool. It's an extremely powerful app with lots of tables and tools. I have not taken the time to really dig into it much. |

I use it a lot. Main uses for me :
* time & trajectory of the milky way, sun, moon
* gives me times for blue/golden hours as well as sunset/sunrise
* best time & placement for shadows
* helps predict when the sun/moon will be visible/blocked by obstacles such as mountains, buildings, etc. Another example is it can tell you where & when the sun may appear through a natural arch and the best position for your camera.
All of the above can be retrieved for now or anytime in the future anywhere on the surface of the earth. |
