hahah i love the voting system..
One minute you are a 6.X and 10 minutes later you are a 4.X :)

I think there are basically two groups of voters.

First Group = Those who analyze the photos from a techinical & artistic perspective

Second Group = Those who say "Wooden".. I wanna see a 2x4 smack dab in the center of the shot, with maybe the word wooden written across it. :)

I've been sitting at somewhere between 6.6667 and this score (the lowest it's been) since the challenge started. I'm not unhappy at all. If I stay above 6, I owe most of the thanks to bear_music whose tips on fixing blown highlights probably bumped my score up a full point.

Alexys, congrats, you're obviously headed for great things this time...as opposed to moi who is headed for the worst result EVER. :-) And the funny thing, is that I thought this was a really good image which fit the challenge. The voters say nay: C'est la guerre

Looking better. Now I hold out hopes for those great folks who ride in at the last minute and bump up!

I'm sitting in there with a 6.23 at the moment, but have been fluctuating from 6.12 to 6.7... I'm hoping to creep back up over the week as I tend to do when I have scores like this.

as for the person with a 7.666.. you realize that's just a number that means "Lucky" and "Evil" right.. so you're evil for being so lucky.

Go buy a film camera and leave us alone ;)

J/K!!!!

Don´t worry and don´t think that... Really, I have no pic in this challenge.... I was dreaming on it and just kidding.

Ditto. Good luck to you. I started out at 6.7 and have slowly crept down to 6.28. Hoping things creep back up a little bit.

I don't think people saw the funny side of my picture. My only excuse is that I have only just become a member and I am used to only being allowed to do basic editing - didn't realise I could do 'extra' stuff in a member challenge :-(

Edit - just corrected a few typos

My second entry ever... First was textures III (fairing a little better, but still not good)... I guess I should not enter challenges where I am lacking in inspiration.

As he savors the residue at the bottom of the glue bottle .........he looks at the pretty mushrooms growing on the front lawn and ponders his score. GULP!

Keep in mind that member and open challenges can both be either basic or advanced editing. Advanced editing is not tied to member challenges.

You might want to get that auto focus fixed before the next challenge.

Thanks for the advice - I have only ever entered ones with basic editing and I am just learning about things to do in photoshop. Never mind its all a good learning curve and it made me think more about my tools entry.

Attention! All images submitted MUST be perfectly sharp with aperture set at f/22 or better to even be considered... :) Just joking

It all depends on which particular dead animals head you are entering.

Now, a dead birds head would of course, need to be as sharp as possible, to grasp that matted feather, detail. As you already know, with a dead fish head shot, smooth soft tonal range is essential for the high votes.

Hey, is that a crack at my Point & Shoot, LOL! My original photo was very sharp, but I softened it in Photoshop, So I certainly deserve whatever bile is thrown my way via comments. I guess I brought it on myself.

OH NO, my camera only goes to F/8!

LOL, just so happens I took a shot of a dead bird just feet away from my wood shot. My wife was all, "What the heck is wrong with you?" I was like, "Its' art baby, yeah!"

It's gone up considerably since this morning (started at a 4.0x), and it continues to go up, but the comments are frustrating. A lot of people seem to think that my point of focus was on accident ... I guess that's what I get for trying something new! :)
