I think I am getting it a little. Can an overlay be another photo, as I did in this?

Mystic Dreams

This turned out stunning when I printed it. Such bright colors and textures. Oh wow, do I love overlays.

Now that I have gotten my feet wet, I will continue trying images throughout the month. I will probably post a couple more, but don't want to take away the space from official side challenge participants. Thanks for the information and bringing out this wonderful technique. Hope a lot of info will pass as the images are posted.

I would have to pay money to do that. I can't post because I haven't updated my membership, though if you guys convince me enough I might decide to pay the $5.00 just for the month of May. I think I can afford that much. That would be the equivalent of a couple of Hot Pocket packages for lunch. Could do pb&j I guess.

Well, thought about this shot and did 2 overlays on it. Wouldn't have thought to do that....thank you joynim for giving me the idea...wanted this to have a antique look to it...

Mystic Dreams
This turned out stunning when I printed it. Such bright colors and textures. Oh wow, do I love overlays.

Here are the steps I tried.
I started with two images, the sea lion and the fish. Both were taken at Mystic Aquarium.
Sea lion - 2 layers
fish - copied then pasted at hard light, about 59%
Erased around sea lion at about 55%
Pasted another layer of fish using soft light at about 70% which created the wonderful color of the overlay.
Erased around sea lion again.
Took a sea sponge faux brush and dotted all around the image for frame using an electric blue color, then a blue black to darken.
Added a simple noisy frame.

Now that I have gotten my feet wet, I will continue trying images throughout the month. I will probably post a couple more, but don't want to take away the space from official side challenge participants. Thanks for the information and bringing out this wonderful technique.
