I need to resolve some problems I have using a Raynox conversion lens (both wide angle and telephoto).

If I switch Conversion Lens to 'On' I get tunnel-vision style appearance through the viewfinder which doesn't seem to be adjustable. If I leave the setting 'Off' I have to resort to manual zoom/focus which yields poor, unpredictable results. What am I playing at here?! Thanks in advance.

Not sure about the wide angle, but I use an Olympus B-300 Teleconverter with my F707. I don't use the conversion lens setting at all - the camera autofocuses perfectly happily with the teleconverter on. There's vignetting, of course, at anything under 3/4 zoom, but you'd expect that. Also, Hologram AF and Nightshot won't work with the converter on.

I would expect it to be the same with the wide angle.

the "conversion lense" option on the f717 is for wide angle only, as it locks the zoom, but either way, it's not too good to use. Just leave it off and zoom to your hearts content. With a telephoto lense (i have the tcon-17 on the f717) i have to zoom up to about 3/4 full optical to get rid of vignetting, which makes sense, i always use it at full zoom anyway, which gives me 8.5x optical zoom. I'm not sure what you mean by "manual zoom/focus", as this is how you'd do it anyway without the teleconverter on.. My tcon-17 focuses great, and zoom isn't really a problem...

Thanks Andre (and Andrew)

It looks like I do the same thing then since I find that the best setting is to zoom to the brink of digital, which removes most lens abherrations. I just wondered there was a more scientific way of setting up.

I like your IR Bench shot. What is the filter used and how much did it cost?

You've got a nice portfolio too Andrew - like the MK shots.

i used a Hoya R72 (58mm) filter, and had the camera in nightshot mode. I didn't need an ND filter as this was shot at 9pm and it was getting dark. I will definatly need a few different intensities of ND filters if i intend to use this during the day.
