I gave this a 7 although I neglected to post the number in my comment. My bad.

6...It's the cutest of the 3 Lord of Flies entries. The light is pretty too. Though it is a really nice B&W conversion, I wonder how this would have been in color?

A popular title for this challenge. This is charming and delightful. If I recall correctly, however, these boys are too young for the story.

Doesn't capture the darkness of the novel... I'd make suggestions on how to improve it, but you'd probably find them disturbing.

Excellent image, beautiful lighting, great contrast, wonderful B&W conversion. The scene depicted fits the theme almost perfectly..I say almost because the two boys in the photo are off course much too young compared to the boys in the actual novel. But that's a minor detail really and it doesn't detract from the top-notch execution of this image. 9

Nice idea. Kids are a little young for the theme I think. :-)

Several notable quotes from this book jump at me when i see this image. (below)
It looks like the boys were having fun here, and that's the most important part - capturing them being kids because further down the road that's what you can look back at this and remember.
I love the imagery here, the lighting is great through the trees and the detail is crisp.
I may have cropped a bit more from the top, but it's such a small criticism that it's hardly worth mentioning aside from being honest in my thoughts on the image.
A 9+ and contender for my favorite in the challenge.

“We did everything adults would do. What went wrong?”
“The thing is - fear can't hurt you any more than a dream.”
“Maybe there is a beast… maybe it's only us.”

A curious take on an oft violent story. They almost seem too innocent, though I guess the story starts innocent in a way. I would like it a tad darker and more black toned only because of the dark overtones in the book. 6

They seem a bit younger than I remember but otherwise it captures a mood of unsupervised activity in the woods, which fits. Visually the image is well executed and composed. The light is wonderfully captured.

I don't really get Lord of the Flies from this, but I am sure it was fun photographing your kids (I assume they are yours).

There are aspects of the photo that I like such as the light and shadows in the foreground, but the background is a little too white for me. I would like to see more contrast.

Gave it a 4

This is actually quite troubling... Absent the title reference, I'd just see a couple of de-pantsed youngsters running around a tree, but you had to bring THAT up, and now every time I look at it, I'm seeing darker things. So it's effective in that regard, and nicely constructed as well. For me, I'd have expected something more overtly *savage*, face paint and defiant stares, but you took a different path and it's quite effective.

8 from me.

Nothing to do with the title (boys are way too young for one thing) and has no atmosphere.5.

A cute picture of two lovely boys playing in a rather peaceful forest, shoehorned for the challenge

Really wonderful snapshot of life here with the kids running around, playing and having fun! Somewhat incongruous though with the book, which was about brutality and savagery of primitive living.

Gorgeous light and texture. Well composed between shaded areas and lit areas, with the placement of your two subjects. Much too joyful for the book, but I give you a 7 for a great shot.

Little young for Lord of the Flies, but very nice shot. I like the lighting and the textures. I wonder what it would have looked like if you had let it be even a bit more blown in the highlights. -7-

A beautiful scene, great use of light and perspective. These guys seem a little too innocent maybe, but that's the catch isn't it. Nicely done. 6.
