Thanks for the positive comments Robert. I was somewhat surprised (and honestly discouraged) by the low score. I have since learned that I need not take this stuff too seriously!

Wow, I just encountered this. Absolutely gorgeous, and to my way of thinking an inspired take on the concept of afterlife. Should have scored MUCH better in the challenge, no kidding. Well done.

for me it wasn't so much about the living tree, but rather that we see the impression left by the branch instead of the branch itself. When we die, all that is left is the impression we make.

Thanks to all who commented and voted. I had high hopes for this shot and can't be too disappointed with this result! Still I wonder if some voters missed the connection to the challenge (branch was once part of a living tree....).

I like the symbolism you've captured here. DOF is dead on and the lighting is perfect. Well done. My only nit pic is the two black specks in the upper right that, if this were adv. editing, could be cloned out. Nothing to mark down over though. Good job.
