Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Stopped Motion III (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Canon EOS-20D
Lens: Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM
Location: back pasture
Date: Aug 5, 2006
Aperture: 2.8
ISO: 400
Shutter: 1/800
Galleries: Nature, Action
Date Uploaded: Aug 6, 2006

Shooting Date/Time 8/5/2006 6:58:50 PM
Focal Length 200.0 mm
cropped, noiseware, converted to duotone, resized, usm, slight sharpen, border, save for web.

Only one take. I would have liked to have captured it without the trees in the background and I'm not sure if my duotone conversion will be well received, but I like it.

Thank you so much for all the wonderful comments and 10 favorites!

Dynamic in-flight shot, the downward dive is classic, and the duo-tone does justice to this bird of prey.

my big wish for this picture is that the wonderful bokeh type background filled the whole image. the white sky is so overpowering, that it just makes me feel mildly disappointed. which isn't to say you HAVEN'T done a great job here; the detail and capture of the bird is really super. i think the bird could do with he white bits being made whiter (curves or dodge) but that aside, it's lovely. 7.

(editted to correct grammer from you've to haven't! sorry!)

Hey. Pretty good capture. I like the color tone used to minimize the sky blowout. The diagonal that the hawk is coming in at adds some nice drama to the photo. This should do pretty well for you. Did I already say nice catch?! ;^) Good luck.

I can scarcely imagine how hard this is to get - I thought you should know I recognize your skill in getting this! ;-) I don't think the sepia is doing you any favors in this shot though.

Excellent detail and sharpness. I'm not sure I'm 100% sold on the tight crop to the bottom and the right side.

Great picture, but I think color in the hawk would have made the picutre that much better.
