I actually think this is pretty good (and I thought that *before* clicking on your username btw!) - You're brave to enter the over-processed look into a DPC challenge... but you'll find a lot of people here who appreciate something new.

Looking forward to the next one.

Processing and harsh lighting hurt your shot here. Angle your shot a bit to put the bright light on one side of the subject next time.

well done... the geometry of the tiles contrasting with the organic brightness of snow. mystical processing, too...

I think the post-processing makes the shot a little less attractive than it probably was coming out of the camera...

Hey, Sprog. I'd say, "Don't worry about the voters at this point!" They are not even slightly relevant to what you ought to be doing right now, which is (to my mind at least) exploring your own way of seeing, and passing the explorations on to us. I actually LIKE this shot, the ethereal emptiness and loneliness of it.

You will find that the typical DPC voter is not fond of the technique of reducing the number of colors/shades to two or three (called Posterization), though it is a common processing technique (there's even a separate command for it in Photoshop) used, especially in advertising, to give a photo the look of an illustration.

I think the effect works well for your subject, isolating the three compositional elements (bare floor, snowdrift, and boots) beautifully.

I applaud you for submitting what you liked regardless of the possible consequences in terms of votes. I think you will have more fun if you continue to do so.
