I don't get the irony part - never read the book some of you are talking about - it just hurts to look at it. I guess I'm not jaded enough to find it funny. I enjoy reading the various takes on it, though, as well as your reaction. It reminds me that times have changed and that's something that gets harder to keep in mind as the decades pass.

Blunt, ugly, in-your-face and excellent photoraphy. In a sense. Might have been more impact from a beautifully set-up studio shot of the same carcass - the contrast of the perfect/cosmetic studio situation with the toughness of the planet would be arresting.

Should have used black and white for this, as it is, it's just kinda gross. Also, there is too much context, not enough dead bird to be effective.
