DP Skyscapeby optixComment by Lydia: I'm thinking you're getting some comments about the mountain in the background being land... in a no-land challenge.
It's okay.
Try again next challenge!
My score isn't doing well either. :D |

Old Californiaby optixComment by Yo_Spiff: To me, the midday sun is hurting what could have been a very interesting location. I think either early or late in the day would have done nicely for this. Sometimes overcast days work nicely as well, as long as you can keep the blah sky out of the shot. |

About to calveby optixComment by HarveyG: Without a dramatic splash the image, whilst being in a difficult and cold location and the effort to get here immense, is rather flat. It's not yet telling a compelling story such as global warming. Maybe a minute later it did but your ship had moved on. Some ice fell, and I'm sure it was a moment you will never forget but what's being shown is just too little to be momentous in the picture. NG photography to me is all about a new angle, a moment, a feeling, something thought provoking or a picture to back up the article and I don't think this has enough of that to be accepted. 'Calve' to me is to give birth to a calf. No doubt I'm not the first to point this out. Did you mean 'About to cave in'?
ETA Post Rollover: OK I'm an ass and I learnt something new today. Apologies for the "Calve" Faux Pas. I did look it up but totally missed it. Message edited by author 2011-07-09 17:20:54. |

About to calveby optixComment by tanguera: How lucky were you! For me, this is a splendid example of something I'd see in NG, but it needs a bit more pp'ing (contrast, amp up the blue, etc.) to help the eye zone in on the drama of the calving, rather than wandering all over the image. |
