When he finished the washing-up, Dave would stare achingly at the bubbles in the sink, remembering his happier days. The reflections reminded him of bright days at sea with his ship breaking through the waves leaving a trail behind it. Occasionally he'd see the reflection of his wife and remember how she'd taken him away from the sea and away from his freedom. Just another 4 hours until he filled the bowl again and made another set of bubble memories.

It was inevitable really. She was a high flying lawyer with great teeth and a good future, he was a down-town mechanic, a 'back-street guy' if you like. She'd never had a back-street guy, and her Mother never told her why, but he was gonna try. And he did. And they were happy for several months until she realised they had nothing in common. He didn't even know what a lawyer was.

Lots of emotion here

Harry spent his days looking for his birth certificate. He'd definately put it in a book for 'safe keeping', but the book disappeared and his chance of citizenship along with it. He had found a photo of Obama in a compromising clinch with a woman, and he kept this in his bag for future blackmailing opportunities, but he really needed his birth certificate.

Nice pic

"B" is for "Bunny"
by Lydia

Comment:
"Mum, you need to listen to me. Either use more or less aperture. My bunny ears are either too in-focus or too out-of-focus. Maybe focus on my eyes rather than my nose. Mum, are you listening??"

Despite being a pro photographer for 8 years nobody ever listened to Rex's suggestions, but he was such a cutey.

A very engaging and humourous shot.

"But I told you it was my Mother's birthday next weekend. It's the same day every year, remember?"

Dave could feel his 'weekend with the boys' slipping away with every exasperated breath from her beautiful mouth. As time went on he questioned why he stayed with her and her endless demands for attention and commitment. Maybe it was her huge trust fund.

Very atmospheric shot, full of emotion.

'Fluffy' had heard all the songs a million times or more. They were played well on a good instrument, but he knew the money wouldn't roll in until he started doing his dog dance. The star of the show was waiting for the right moment with the right lighting and the right crowd. He was 3 dances away from the $250 he needed for a flight to Hollywood to become a film star, or work in a restaurant if it failed.

"Set the controls for the heart of the sun," shouted the Captain, "we've got to shake off the Banty patrol interceptor and get the Quad twins to safety!"

"Dave! Dave! Wake up!" shouted Kevin.

Dave woke and went back to his menial job, monitoring space for the signs of extra-terrestial intelligence that he knew he would never find. They were out there, but they didn't want to speak to us.

Very engaging photo.

The Box

Comment:
The box had had an interesting life. Once it held important cryptic messages for Polish spies working as double agents for the KGB in West Germany. When 'Rudolf' was picked up by the Police the box went to a thrift store where Keith bought it to store his pens, but he always got a bad vibe when the lights were turned off and the box whispered messages about its interesting past. Now it lives in the shed, empty, remembering the old days, whispering to itself in the dark. When the light comes on, it stops.

Great atmospheric shot.

It wasn't the most interesting or enjoyable team-building day, but the finance section was determined to make the most of it. They just needed to remember to forget that the IT section got a week in Miami.

Good shot.

As the sun dropped and the holiday-makers went back to their hotels to party, the kayaks snuggled up to keep warm against the cold Pacific breeze. "Tomorrow," the told themselves each night, "tomorrow we'll get to go to Chile", but of course they never would.

Lovely light and atmosphere, but photos I like usually bomb. Sorry!
