Naturally set shots like this don't do well at DPC. It requires a bit of thought and doesn't contain a lot of WOW. I like this and scored it an 8. I would bet money this was "carved" out, unless there was a cliff and an old stream bed right there. Compositionally, this is fine. I might have tried a steeper angle, or moved around to catch different reflections in the water. Splashing the water might have created some fun effects, but I can't think of a way without putting stones into the pond...probably not a good idea. Rob

Did the dog bite the bubble? I love the colors and reflection in the bubble, VERY nice! But it seems a little pixelated at the bottom...I wonder why? The rest is so very clear! 9 Rob the Swash

Very nice! Sepia seems very correct for this one. I like the water splashes. The sepia seems a good choice for the sky background, too. 9 Rob the Swash

That's a beauty! Looks like a variation of the Morphius family. (I have a blue morphious, from the Macro challenge). I like everything about this photo, except for the left crop, the right side is very close to chopping an antennea, but the left definately chops it's rear. Very nice color! Good focus (it helps when the b-fly is "flat" to the camera). Where was this butterfly exhibit located? (I locate and go to as many as I can find!!!) 9 Rob the Swash

Very cool! The eye is perfect, I love it! The feathers range from very good and nicely textured, to well less than that. A bit of grain on the beak, but not as bad as some of my shots. The eye is a real "eye catcher"! 9 Rob the Swash

Neat shot! I like the clouds reflected in the marble, nice touch. Nit time - (no score effect, true nits) - dust on your lens or glass; not enough blue in the marble (for good balance); and some extra stray white ghosts in front of the flag (I think it's more reflections, but not certain). I consider all of these to be minor flaws, but the idea is very good and for the most part well executed. 9 Rob the Swash
(Interesting shot and a nice variation from the water droplets theme that had been so heavily done here)

Nice details in the eyelashes. Background doesn't offer enough contrast - the babies' face seems to disappear into the background, not a crisp edge. The grain (in the lower cheeks and upper nose) is a bit heavy. Lighting on the upper cheek is a bit too strong, too. 6 Rob the Swash

Cool effect, in general, I like this pic. (Just making sure - is the round part the hole we are looking through to see the lighthouse or the lighthouse itself?) IMHO, I don't think the sun up top helps, a manual crop w/o it looks better to me - the sun draws my eyes away from the high key lighthouse. 6 Rob the Swash

It's a cool effect, really fun coloration. The tree bark (I think, it's hard to tell for certain) is a good contrast to the soft, smooth sky.....but I like detail over pretty colors (sorry, my bad). 6 Rob the Swash
